In ancient Egypt, obelisks were placed at the entrances to sacred spaces to signal leaving behind the present time and stepping into a new and alternate dimension of reality. The obelisk is a beautiful structure that features sacred geometry shapes, most noticeably the cube or hexahedron at the base for a sturdy foundation and to represent the four directions and the pyramid at the top. The obelisk works like a fountain of energy, with the flow of energy beginning at the base and flowing upwards to and through the pyramid. Obelisks were always built in pairs with the smaller ones standing outside of tombs and the larger ones outside of temples. Each obelisk was built, placed, and oriented towards the Sun and engraved with hieroglyphs that aligned to the four directions. The oldest obelisk is 4300 years old and crafted from pink granite.
